Employee Spotlight: Interview with Owner – Andy Felton

Get to know Andy Felton, owner of Neuwave Systems! 

Q:Where are you from ? Tell us about your time at NCSU?

A: Born and raised in Raleigh. Graduated from NC State in 1991 with a BA in Political Science.  Time spent in college was awesome! Wish I could do it again.  Joined Lambda Chi frat where I enjoyed all the brotherhood and intramural sports.

Q: What got you into the audio visual Business?

A: After graduation I met a guy named Johnny Hudson while cleaning fish on a dock in Morehead City. We had been fishing in the gulf stream and had a nice catch to clean. Johnny, who is an avid fisherman, struck up conversation.It turns out Johnny is a sales manager for ADI Distribution. I was looking for my first post graduate employment and would show up at Johnny’s office the next
Monday. The rest is history. I worked for Johnny for 10 years and later started Neuwave in March 2003.

Q: Do you have any mentors/companies in the business that inpsired you to follow a
specific business model?

A: Johnny would have to be my mentor and man that gave me all the opportunities to put me
in a position to succeed on my own.

Q: What makes your work with Neuwave worth while on a daily basis?

A: The work we do creates opportunities to put smiles on people’s faces. We become part of the family.

Q: Tell us about your hobbies, family and any out of work organizations or groups you belong to or spend your time with.

A: I have one son, Will, 9, with my long time high school sweetheart, Gena Nuttle. and a Stepson, Davis.  I love to hang out at the beach and especially enjoy taking the family fishing.  Other hobbies includes mountain biking, Wolfpack Athletics, and hanging out with
the family.       

I’m currently VP of the North Carolina Electronics Security Association. Team Captain for fundraising efforts for the Wake County Boys and Girls Clubs.
